The BMW hybrid car isn't out on the American market just yet. Maybe next year or the next.
One thing they may come out with is the BMW Concept X6 ActiveHybrid. The BMW ActiveHybrid is a sports coupe with a lot of power. BMW calls it an SAV, or Sports Activity Vehicle. It could possibly contain the V8 engine, and may save up to 20% in fuel consumption.
A unique feature of the Concept X6 is that when it is running on purely electrical power, a panel comes out and conceals the exhaust pipe.
The ActiveHybrid system contains an internal combustion engine, a transmission run by two electric motors, the batteries and the electronic control system. But most of all, they are emphasizing power and luxury as in all other BMW car models.
Then there's the BMW Concept X3 EfficientDynamics hybrid SUV. The EfficientDynamics system uses high performance capacitors to supply energy to the transmission which combines the electric motor and gasoline engine. In addition, it provides regenerative braking.
