Ford Hybrid Cars

Ford hybrid cars are another viable option in green driving.

The 2008 Ford Escape Hybrid is an SUV, available in front wheel drive and all wheel drive. It rates an average of 34 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway. It runs purely on electricity when at a stop or in city driving.

The battery is warrantied for 8 years. Like other makes of hybrid cars, it features a regenerative battery, which is recharged when you are braking. It also has an electronically controlled continually variable transmission. This makes for a smooth transition from electric to gas and back.

This SUV has a moon roof, a roof rack and a satellite radio.

It's possible you can qualify for a tax credit of $3000 for the FWD model, or $2200 for the AWD model.

The Ford Escape Hybrid has a base MSRP of $25,075.
