The Nissan hybrid car is the midsized Altima sedan. It has 4 cylinders and an electronically controlled continuously variable transmission.
At low speeds, it runs solely on the electric motor, while the gas engine kicks in at higher speeds, and/or a combination of the two.

The 2008 model's estimated mpg is 35, and Nissan claims you can go 600 miles of city driving on one tank of gas. It also features the Bluetooth hands free phone system and a touch-screen navigation system. It has a MSRP of $25,070.
The hybrid Nissan Altima is only available in some states, such as California, Rhode Island, New York, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Vermont, Maine and New Jersey.
The federal tax credit offered for the 2007 Nissan Altima hybrid car is $2350.
